As the owner of Lair Of Dragons Parrot Rescue, I would like to give a special
thanks to those who have donated their time, given donations, sent email's and
letters showing your appreciation for what we do or the thanks we get from
those whom adopted one of our very precious parrots, it has been a
tremendous help in providing us with the encouragement to keep moving
forward. Please remember that this is not only special birds from a life of
sorrow and neglect that you have helped but also those whom came from
wonderful families who found themselves in hard times.. This is not just our
fight but everyone's whom helped us along the way.. We provide the shelter,
food, love and attention for the animals needing our help but we could not do
this without your support. Also remember that there are many rescues across
the nation that need your support and we all need to do our part in helping
them so that they may help the animals in need. There are so many shelters
needing volunteers, supplies, drivers, food and other donations to continue
their mission. Many times I hear people say: a rescue must already have
money to operate and provide for the animals in their care or they would not be
doing this but this is not true. Most rescues depend on YOU, the public to help
with funding or they would not be able to care and save so many. Even us, as
a privately owned rescue, we still find the means to help others. We go to flea
markets and yard sales and when I see good items such as dog and cat
supplies, I will pick them up and donate to our local shelter.
We get calls and email's from other rescues located in New Jersey, Maryland,
Delaware, New York and Ohio looking for help and we will gladly provide it if
the situation allows. This is a cycle that must continue between all of us in
order to save more lives. As a privately owned rescue, we can always use help
ourselves. For 6 years, my family has been providing a safe home for these
animals and we do this out of our own pocket and the reason why: I love
parrots, I love all animals, I love helping and knowing that I am saving a life.
My children get a sense of accomplishment while learning to respect and care
for those whom can not care for themselves. But again, even though we
provide all the necessities we still count on you for your support and want this
to be a team effort so that you may also feel the joy and happiness of knowing
you have also contributed to saving one of these beautiful parrots or another
animal at a different shelter/rescue. We do not expect donations but we are
always so thankful when we receive them. Items such as toys, food, spare
cages you have lying around, even some untreated wood you do not need
helps us to help these parrots. It does not take much to give but the after affect
last a lifetime for some of these less fortunate animals. Please remember when
out on a Saturday outing and you stop at that yard sale on the side of the
street, look around and you may find a few dollars worth of items that could
mean a pot of gold to an animal in need. Again Thank You and keep up the
wonderful work in helping us and others to save a life!
